Legal Culture and Its Impact on Society Biena, Angola

Legal culture, understood as the set of practices, norms and values that guide the legal system, plays a crucial role in shaping the rule of law and promoting social cohesion. This article aimed to analyze the influence of legal culture on society in Bié province, Angola. Using a mixed-method approach, the research used interviews with legal professionals and questionnaires applied to the general population to investigate perceptions of justice, access to the legal system and challenges faced in implementing laws in Bié province. The results showed a strong correlation between perceptions of justice and trust in legal institutions, revealing significant challenges such as lack of resources, corruption and difficulty in accessing justice. The article concluded that, although Bié’s legal culture is marked by traditional values and a strong colonial heritage, there is a growing demand for reforms that seek greater social inclusion and better administration of justice.
